Well talked to the mechanic today and he got my driver side fixed (woohoo) but he can't fix my passenger side...he says he got the panel off (how i'll never know) and everything is intact and he tried to oil it and it STILL won't open, he says it's frozen (say WHAT?!) and wants to use an air chisel to chisel out the latch (?!) now i just sat down and thought about it...wouldn't the door have to open to do that?! and if he meant the outside handle there is only 2 bolts holding them on and u can get to them from the inside,
correct? Is he just being lazy and trying to nail me for more $$? thanx for the help! Sean |
Yes.. the door handles are very easy to take out. Open the door. Remove the door panel. Loosen one of the Bolts for the handle. Than, Lower the window ( or raise it. which ever way you started) than loosen the other bolt for the handle. Take your time and deal with it
The Door handles on the FC's are very prone to breaking over time due to cheap metal to save wieght. Purchase some new ones. and spotweld them to reinforce them. :-) |

ok, got some more ?'s.....he said to get a new handle for the driver's side is
100$..and he figures the latch is prolly more...but my girlfriend just called u Wrench It and they quoted us 6 and 7$ respectively :P..WTF is going on here!? Anyone else heard of them being that cheap? I think he is DEFINITELY trying to screw me.....I think i am gonna go pick up my car tomorrow and just fix it myself.... |
a u-wrench it sounds like a place that you go and pull the parts off yourself.
A new one from Mazda cant be compared to a u-wrench it considering you can usually get a whole door from a u-wrench it for $15-$25 Dont break your wiper switch or you will really get a shock how much a new one is from the dealer, lol. Unless the drivers handle is broken in 2 I cant see why it doesnt work. |

I think he's just being lazy....stupid mechanics.....If i get the parts i'll just do it myself,
my g-friend called again today to confirm the price, and the lady told her she didn't know if they even HAD an rx-7, that we'd have to go out and look, since it's been raining for about 14 hrs. straight, i passed on that, i didn't feel like hiking thru 15 acres of mud and crap looking for an rx-7 after work....maybe next weekend....and it was the little levery thing on the driver's side, still don't know what to do with the passenger side.... |
just sell it and get your awesome berretta.....

The only honest mechanic that will ever work on your car is you. Every one els is out for money they don't care about you or your car. Most times you get your car fixed the damn thing just breaks down again. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

If you dont have a mechanic you trust then keep looking. How old is the car? The odds of something NOT breaking on it every few months are pretty slim and no fault of the mechanic working on it. I have a mechanic I trust 1000%. Ask around, im sure someone knows somebody. Once again I stess good local connections, be it a body shop, parts store, mechanic, tranny shop, machine shop, alternator,/starter rebuilders, winshield/glass shop, etc... These are all connections one should have if they want to own a older car, a internet connetion is not enough to solve your problems, a brain helps as well. |
well i kinda wanna have it around...i just need a car with more seats, my g-friend is
pregnant and i know an rx-7 with 2 seats just isn't gonna cut it, i think i will keep my 7 in storage (AFTER it gets done) and i'm looking at a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited black with silver accents..for about 5k... |
