In the past I have been looking for a True Dual setup for my exhaust because I think thats those are the best performance wise. So getting beyond that point I was wondering if anyone has ever built their own. Meaning either made their own true dual(TD) manifold and the cat-back minus the cat because I live in Mich and we do not have strict regulations on emisions. If anyone has done either of these I would greatly appreciate some plans or tips or where I could find a cheap kit because I have seen them before but were all costing over 1K.

So thanks!

I don't think you'll find a cheap kit. There's a car for sale in Iowa City with a true dual setup. $800 w/ a blown engine.

I think it'll be difficult to pass emmissions without cats if possisble? Maybe someone should chime in that actually has this setup though.

Yea I know I was searching for a while and I was mostly just looking for a TD header. The rest I can piece together myself.

Also emisions are not a problem as long as the car isnt too loud.

I went the cheap route:

I bought the Mazdatrix header kit ~$90 shipped (RB flange & mandrel bends).

Then had a local shop weld up the rest using the origonal rear flanges & tips.

The 2 sliencers, 2 bomb mufflers, pipe & labor to weld it all up came to ~$240.

Check out the link to the pictures & sound bite in my sig below.

Here is a link to a video clip of that setup form the inside.

I did a similar thing as sureshot. It sounded like ****, and made nowhere near the power of my collected exhaust. What a waste. True duals have to be the most over-hyped and under performing exhaust I have ever seen.

wow, I'm glad I went single, good to know I'm not missing anything.

The sound depends much on the pre-silencers.

Play the sound link in my sig to see what I mean.

Yes- A properly tuned collected header is better, but a full dual is more forgiving if you're off a bit.

I happen to like the "growl" under load, of the alternating exhaust pulses from each tip.
