ok so this is like my first post on here ever but been a member since april of last year when i bought my car from the cars for sell section. anyways it will no longer start and thought may be you guys could lead me in the right direction as too what to check or do. to start the car is a '88 turbo2 with who knows how many actual miles on it (odometer stopped at 146000) when i bought the car it ran like a champ but wouldn't hold a cold idle cause a previous owner removed the emissions i was told that was why anyway. i tinkered and fixed that by hooking back up the bypass air valve and shes been fine ever since. no problems what so ever it was my daily to work and back. but about the past 2 months i haven't gotten to really drive her as much as shes needed (only like 1 a week) and its been fairly cold here. so i go outside to start up and take off to work for my once a week ride but she wouldn't start. the radio and lights and everything were fine but i thought may be the battery had died enough so it wouldn't start so i tried jumping it off but that didn't work. the car just makes a whinning noise now with some poofing from the exhaust like its trying to clear its throat. idk what it might be and was wonder if you guys knew what it could be and things for me to check. i love the car its so much fun to drive and would love her back! if it helps mods that might affect anything include: TID mod, removed emissions, gutted cats, bov, may be i few more i've forgot about. the previous owner said he boosted 9 lbs naturally with the removed emissions and gutted cats but since ive bought it shes only got stock pressure. anyways any help will be greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read all this lol.

yea the guy before me rigged up a switch next to the security light for that instead of getting out and pulling the fuse but that usually works cause it does flood often (almost everytime i get gas). but i tried and still got nothing from that.

I'd start with a compression check, just to be sure. Then pull the plugs and either replace them or clean 'em up real good.

Fuel, fire and air. It ain't rocket science.

I had a very persistent problem with hot restarts, like you say, every time you get gas. I found that pulling the injectors and having them cleaned fixed that problem 100%.

Thanx for the input. i believe the previous owner did say that he hadn't touched anything with involving fuel so new injectors would be a good place to start anyway. assuming i check everything else and fix the prob to get this engine back going i'd want to go head and replace the injectors and probably the fuel pump any way (i already replaced the fuel filter less than 1k ago) do you have any suggested sizes for the primary and secondary with my mild mod set up not looking for anything high hp. also i have a apex SAFC2 i'm going to be putting in when i get her going again. thx for the reply

No real need to replace the injectors. They last a good long time and I'm partial to the stock ones for primaries. Just pull them out and get 'em cleaned. I can recommend RC Engineering in Torrance, CA. They should be able to turn them around in a week. They can also set you up if you want to upgrade your secondaries.
