It's tranny fliuid for sure. I drained my fluid today and its the exact same color because i guess i had synthetic in my tranny to begin with. I also checked and its coming from the solenoid for sure, i'm pretty sure its ana o-ring. But, i have no clue hwo to get the thing off.

yes they do, all cars do.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif

every car made in the last 10-15 years has a safety.

maybe someone disabled it, I dunno.

Check the history section (under the index) of the 2003 Fall Edition of the Victoria British Ltd. catalog and you will find:

"1987 Anti-lock braking was added as an option on GXL and Turbo models. Starter interlock added to manual transmission model (clutch pedal had to be depressed for the car to start)"

So it would appear that not all cars do/did come with neutral safety interlock, namely 86 and prior mazda RX-7's...

I said in the last 10-15 years

its 2003-15=1988

considering Dramon's car is a 1989, how am I off topic or how is my information

incorrect??

Outside the RX7 world my information is still correct.

I was off topic, not you.

But I will rephrase this anyway. Not all cars do have neutral safety interlock swiches. Yes you did come back later on and say in the past 10-15 years...

...

my idea was already shot down. sorry. should have read the entire thread first.

Sometimes I like to give knowledge on other cars, not just

RX7s, but im pretty sure its a federal law for cars to have the switch

just not sure what year it was inacted.

hmm i say clean that whole area from any nasty fluids....then let it leak again and it should be much easier to find the leak...then take whatever is leaking and fix it...it might not be that solenoid...well whatever good luck

It is the thingy thats the only place its leaking out of. It's a leaky o-ring i'm pretty sure. The only problem is getting it out to fix. I think that i'm going to have to drop down part of my tranny to fix it because theres no way i'm getting any sort of tool up in that spot. This sucks.b

Rob x-7 12-29-2003 09:13 PM

might I suggest some brake cleaner to clean the area up, its

usually under good pressure, and dries almost instantly with no

residue.

Transmission fluid, no matter what the composition is smells pretty dank. Its clutch/brake fluid, which looks the ******* SAME as mobil 1 trans/gear oil, but has no smell.

ATF fliud for autotrans/slushbox is red
