Any 90W gear oil is OK.

A good synthetic (take your pick) is best.

If you have a LSD you will need some friction modifier or of you buy higrade rear end oil it will already be mixed in (read the lable)

I am pretty sure that I have an open diff in the car. Sometimes it will spin both and the car will get squirrly, other times it will one leg it. Plus I do not see the tag that is supposed to be there for the cars with a LSD. But is there a certain way I could check?

If it's a newer toyota auto tranny make sure you use toyota type-iv atf.
