wrapping **** also makes it rust out faster.
had to fix a hole on my dads e21 header a few times, the wrap would jsut trap it in and rust it out. |
also gotta figure that you have really no heat reduction around the shifter area. and the metal is what, probably no more than 1/4" thick?

yea the shifter/trans area is always toasty.
best bet is to make some better heat shields, exhaust wrap is so-so solution. chances are your rubber boot around the shifter is ripped too (under the plastic and leather surround) believe it or not that helps block a decent amount of heat, without that its like a portal to a furnace. kevin. |
