Tranmission stuck
#1
The transmission decided that it wanted to get stuck in reverse, after prying it out of reverse, it refused to go into any gear other than 1, 2, and neutral. I yanked the reverse light bolt off the side of the transmission, stuck a screw driver in and pryed the gear towards the rear of the car and It shifted normal for about 4 months until the old clutch finally gave out. I put a new clutch in and it was extremely loose and way soft and it would also grind the gear a little going into 4th and 5th. I figured it just needed to be broken in so I drove it around for a week or so until it started getting really hard to get it into reverse. One day I forced into reverse and it did the stuck thing all over. After going through the process of prying the gear back out and getting it to work it was still way hard to put in reverse and now each time I put it into reverse it gets stuck like the first time. So my question to you more intelligent people is if anyone has any suggestions or experience with a similar problem and if maybe the clutch could be the problem with it not engaging enough or something? I am looking for a new tranny at the moment, but im still curious to see if you guys had any tips or suggestions? The car is a 1990 gtu.

I'm not sure but it's possible. I had the tranny taken apart when I very first got the everything looked fine. I drove it around for quite awhile until it stuck the first time. I wouldn't think it could would be the fork because after prying the gear it ran perfect until the clutch went out. I would be more inclined that it is the clutch causing most of the problems but that's more wishful thinking than anything else. I left the car with my father in the next town over. I will see if he wants to try and bleed the lines and such.
