I was reading in the faq that to set the timing I need to make that ghetto rigged light well I made it and when i poped my hood and I looked at the thing I use to accelerate the car There is no screw. I see the TPS but there is no screw or spring or anything. WTF is going on
? What can I do to replace that! |
Yea there is its near the tps, on the TB.
|
dude it is not there I see where the little black button is on the tps and I see where the screw should go but it is not there There is no screw.
|
OK, the trottle assembly that the TPS pushes against? With the spring and such? Right in front there is a vertical screw with a spring, the head is COVERED BY A WHITE PLASTIC CAP. Pry the cap off, there is your TPS screw (flathead screw).
|
There is physically no screw. No spring, no white cap, NOTHING NOTHING. it is not that I cant find it IT IS NOT THERE there is nothing ! ! ! ! ! ! NADA, Zip, Zilch, Zero. I see it on my friends car but mine does not have it We set his TPS yesterday. Mine does not have the screw.

That enginebay is SEXY. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
I'd take a pic of mine, but it's all grease, and won't reflect the flash, so it'll just be black. It's like a freaking black hole in there. Makes it hard to do any work https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
the best advice i can give you 13b for ur azz, is to p.m. 1revvin7 and get him to tell you on a 1on1 basis what is goin on cause he really knows his ****. Hopefully you live near him so he can show you. If not then he will prolly show you whats up over this site. Just listen to the moderators. They know their ****. Hopefully I helped!!

take a picture of your throttle body, if you've helped a friend with calibrating the TPS you must be familiar with what is supposed to be there. It is possible you are missing some parts, or maybe your car has been modified by a previous owner. Get a photograph up so we can try help you out. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

But that pic and my description should find it for him, if it's there. How could you remove the screw (unless someone JBwelded the two arms together https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR ) |
Have you tried removeing the "black button"? My TPS on my N/A sits under a black cap on the manifold.

And that would really contribute to any driveablility problems you have...
What is up with that wierd trottle linkage action? The upper primaries are tied into the secondaries, instead of the lower primaries??? Is that an 86 only type thing? |
Ughh I dont know. That throttel body is the one that was on my 88 SE. My 86 TB had the secondaries open all the time. I have no drivability problems but my car backfires like a mother fucker when I let the engine whine down in gear. Also my idel screw is all the way up if I put it down it turns off. But my car idels great at 600RPm and around 800 RPM in gear. But my car tells me to up shift like at 4K when im at WOT.

The shift light always turns on around 3K-4K rpm. Ya know what...after it's warmed up, the secondaries and upper primaries will stay wide open all the time. Between that and the TPS being tweaked, you might actually be able to run that engine... The PO was on acid though https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png |
Get another TB and mod and port the **** out of it.
|
what do i need to fix that?
