Why when im on the higway and I hold the gas to the floor it heats up. Duh it is because im running it but is it suposed to go up past 3/4 on the gauge? I have my thermostat taken out could that cause the problem?

Apex13B 02-23-2003 09:35 PM

put your thermostat back in for god's sake

Yea, that might help a little bit..

taken from the Haynes Manual:

Caution: Don't drive the vehicle without a thermostat. The computer may stay in open loop mode and emissions and fuel economy will suffer.

why take your thermostat out in the first place,,,is that a rice boy thing,,,10hp???

Apex13B 02-23-2003 10:06 PM

+20hp stoopid.....unfortuneately people think that it will run cooler this way because "coolant is flowing through my engine all the time"...

correct me if i'm wrong..but a rotary needs to be at a certain operating temperature is order to work correctly and be thermally efficient

ALWAYS use the OEM thermostat...do not use a **** "stant" replacement

RX7 13B 4 UR AZZ 02-23-2003 10:20 PM

i got it without one??? dont ask me and I am not a damn rice boy so dont mistake me for one again ! ! !

BTW isnt there a better thermostat that opens up cooler?

j9fd3s 02-23-2003 10:54 PM

it needs a thermostat to block off the bypass port. the mazda oem stat is the best one to use

why the **** did you take it out?

RX7 13B 4 UR AZZ 02-24-2003 09:16 AM

Hello I did not take it out it was removed when i got it! Im going to put one back in but i wanted to know which one is the best to put back in. I also wanted t-o know that if I put in a fluidyne radiator will it help cool my engine alot better? It is more a reliablility issue than for performance I dont like to see my temp gauge go up like that it makes me nervous.
