Why when im on the higway and I hold the gas to the floor it heats up. Duh it is because im running it but is it suposed to go up past 3/4 on the gauge? I have my thermostat taken out could that cause the problem?

put your thermostat back in for god's sake

put your thermostat back in for god's sake |
taken from the Haynes Manual:
Caution: Don't drive the vehicle without a thermostat. The computer may stay in open loop mode and emissions and fuel economy will suffer. |
why take your thermostat out in the first place,,,is that a rice boy thing,,,10hp???
|
+20hp stoopid.....unfortuneately people think that it will run cooler this way because "coolant is flowing through my engine all the time"...
correct me if i'm wrong..but a rotary needs to be at a certain operating temperature is order to work correctly and be thermally efficient ALWAYS use the OEM thermostat...do not use a **** "stant" replacement |
i got it without one??? dont ask me and I am not a damn rice boy so dont mistake me for one again ! ! !
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png BTW isnt there a better thermostat that opens up cooler? |
it needs a thermostat to block off the bypass port. the mazda oem stat is the best one to use
mike |
why the **** did you take it out?
|
Hello I did not take it out it was removed when i got it! Im going to put one back in but i wanted to know which one is the best to put back in. I also wanted t-o know that if I put in a fluidyne radiator will it help cool my engine alot better? It is more a reliablility issue than for performance I dont like to see my temp gauge go up like that it makes me nervous.
|
A Fluidyne radiator will keep the engine cooler but does cost quite a bit.
There are no better thermostats than the factory mazda one. As mentioned above the rotary needs to stay around a certain temperature to run best. |
Fluidyne is good but expensive. You can get a Koyo aluminum rad at Sportcarmotion for $340 right now I believe.
Other things you can do for the cooling system would be to get a high pressure rad cap like Greddy or Mazdaspeed 1.3 bar and flush the whole system and run more water. I run 80% water to 20% coolant in the summer. |
yah, dont remove the t-stat. it also needs it for backpressure so the coolant reaches all the coolant passages.
