how would i know if my car has timeing issues?

it wont be running right, under normal circumstances it need not

be touched, unless someone has adjusted it incorrectly and its been like that.

it dont idle right, less power, u can tell somethin is really wrong wit ur engine... if its a small retard or advance u prolly might not tell the diff so check it with a light
