Okay, so this is kind of a piddling little problem, but I have a problem with my shifter. It's not the usual sloppy worn-out bushings, but something else.
The shifter does not return to a center neutral position when it is in neutral. The shifter just rests on the 1-2 side of the pattern. I believe the spring that is supposed to center it is broken. There IS spring pressure when I shift to 5 and R. Is this spring in the extension housing? Can I replace it by just pulling the shifter, or is it hard to get to? I can't tell by looking in the FSM. Thanks! |
Mine does the same thing, but Ive never really tried to fix it. I believe its simply the centering spring showing its age. I do know that nothing is broken though.

Where does the sucker live?

the shifter spring breaks, i dunno why but its an fc thing even though the fb uses the same part. you need to pull the tranny and pull the tailshafthousing off to fix it. next time you need a clutch is a good time to do it
