Last night I was on the way to my high school football game. I was hit by a drunk driver. I was going straight and she turned left going the opposite direction. She turn imediatley in front of me. It was almost a head on collision. The whole front left 3/4 of my car is smashed. I luckily got away with only a little whiplash, a bruise on my forehead from the steering wheel, and bruises from my seat belt. My friend however din't get so lucky. He wasn't wearing a sedatbelt so his face hit the window. his left cheek was cut fom his lip all the way to his ear. He hit the center console with his body and the whole thing is smashed in. It was terrible. I thought he was dead at first because he wasn't moving and everything was covered in blood. Luckily he only has large cuts to his face and under went plastic surgury last night. The lasy that hit us blew a .24 BAC AT 7:30 PM!!!! I''m going to miss my car. I have a question for all of you that have been in the same situation. Since I put so much money into my car, will i get all the money back? It would be a shame b/c it just rolled past 69k, every little thing on it worked. no rust. I bought it for 2g from my dad's friend and he hooked it up with a GOOD deal. Would that heavily reduce the settlement?
Thanks

Sad to hear!
But your ok, so it could have been worse!
as for getting your money back, unless you had the car appraised for it's "Actual" value odds are you will only see blue book back. You can fight it a little if you have you receipts for parts? But it's gonna be an uphill battle!
Good Luck!

vosko is right. i was in a similar situation, you won't get the money back, the only way is a law suit and you will probably get a whole lot more. and your friend obviously a **** load more. he can also sue you (it sounds bad but pm me for details, it works and it is legal).

talk to the insurance people and see if you can buy the car back for a reduction in your settlement. usually you can get a good deal on it and there are always usable parts. do this and use the settlement moey to buy another seven, take all the upgrades and switch them over, then part out what you dont need and sell the body to a junkyard
