I was wondering how many ohms the original temp sensor used for the gauge. I recently inspected the entire engine compartment and my temp gauge hasn't worked since i had bought the car so when i took a look at the sensor i saw that it was a some other kind of sensor. It didn't even have the same thread!!! I ent to three different auto shops and non of them had even heard of theat type of sensor so i made a fitting and put a bosch temp sensor in there that has 20k ohms. The temp sensor still doesn't work. I hope it isd just the sensor itself not the wiring some where. Does anyone know how many ohms the temp sensor usually has? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The sensor should have about 155 ohms when the needle indicates "C" (120'F) and about 12 ohms when indicates "H" (265'F) so if you want to know if it's only your temp. sensor then replace the sensor with a 100-ohm resistor connected between the sensor plug and the ground, the meter should indicate about the same as normal temp. or a little less.
