Remember to disconnect all electrical plugs before trying to pull the motor :p youd be surprised how easy it is to forget a wire. Take off all the manifolds to make things easier. Unless you have a photographic memory take pictures or label every plug, at least the first couple times you pull things apart. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png and while your at it look up the write up on how to remove the vaccum rack, unless you need emissions.

No emmisions needed here, though I was under the impression that you needed the air pump to operate the VDI and 5/6 ports on the S5's (my car is a 90 gtu) where is the write up located?

Update: well, I have gotten everything but the a/c and p/s off, including the uim, I am slow, I know, but I am not really in a huge hurry, and I have never done it before, since I am on the subject, is it just the two bolts holding the a/c to the bracket? or is there more? should I pull the P/S off first? because the fsm says to do the a/c first, then the p/s.

do ac then ps, its just easier. you do need the airpump on s5s but you could always go electronic activation with a rpm switch and electric air pump.

SoniX 05-01-2004 09:24 PM

is it just 2 bolts? I am confused, because the ac is under the ps.

haha, its been a while. i dun remember whats on top and whats on bottom but i know you take the one on top off first then the one on the bottom. not sure about the bolts but i belive they are fairly obvious bolts. then when you have i think one or 2 of them of you can take of the frame they are bolted on.

excellent, if the insomnia doesn't quit kicking my ass, I am going to go out and work on it now, at 2 am. I love having an actual garage, with lights and such.

yeah.....sure beats the hell out of working in your parents driveway.....mmmmm college coming soon! racing team with a barn to work on cars!

it is annoying how the smallest things can hold you up, I found out I don't have a 14 MM crescent wrench, which I need to get at the bottom bolts on the ac, so now, here I sit, unable to complete pulling the motor, because of one wrench. (of course, I could just go to discount and buy one, but that isn't nearly as much fun as bitching about it on the inTarWeb)
