I heard different things but I need truth....

can I put a t2 tranny in my NA sport?

Yes, if you use the TII clutch, flywheel, starter, transmission, and slave cylinder you could do it with a custom driveshaft. I've heard that an automatic driveshaft will work, but I never tried it.

If you want to use a TII driveshaft then you'll need the TII driveshaft, rear, and axles.

unless your N/A is putting down alot of power there is no real need to put in a TII tranny. your money could be spent better elsewhere https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The TII transmission has much better gearing.

well my tranny has pretty much lost the synchro in 3rd and I can feel 2nd is on its way....so would it be feasible to just replace the synchros? what are my options?and regardless of if I do the t2 tranny I do want to throw in a gtus rear end if I'm not mistaken it has the 4.30....

what do you guys think?

Replacing the synchros would be an option.

tda79 03-18-2002 01:16 PM

who would I be able to order synchros from?

vosko 03-18-2002 01:39 PM

or your local dealer. you should also replace the bearings while its apart. a decent idea might be to swap to another used tranny and see how long it lasts then rebuild yours.

GOOD IDEA

BUT I HATE DEALING WITH THE COMMUNIST DEALERS OUT HERE. BUT I'LL GIVE IT A TRY

TO THE JUNK YARDS

Also, the automatic driveshaft doesnt work...the 5spd and auto driveshafts are different lengths. The T2 driveshafts have different offsets on the rear end to driveshaft flange too....its more work then you'd think....

< Try a good transmission shop. No need to go to the dealer for a tranny rebuild. I doubt they do it themselves anyhow, they probably send it to a transmission shop that they deal with, or they order a rebuild from Mazda and then send them yours after they swap it in.

I just went thru transmission hell..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png Mazda no longer supplies transmissions, howeve the internal parts are still avalible. I found a good used supplier at RX7heaven.com out of Memphis Tenn.. dont use the Demon speed or Risingsun...got ripped off by them.... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png I had the dealer rebuild the used one I got and its working fine...I came in in good shape but I wanted new parts put in..... Total for used tranny was 500 delivered and 500 for new gears and bearings....cost hurt but it sure runs good,,,,,
