Swapping fuel injectors
#1
I've got a 1987 non turbo that had (presumably) bad inejctors in it. A friend had some injectors sitting around that he gave me BUT they are the high impedence injectors vs the low impedence ones in my car.
I've been told you can jump across the resistor block and use the high injectors on it and I'm wondering if anyone has tried it and/or has thoughts?

Yes, just jump the resistor pack. That will work fine.
Just wire it all together in one big ball o' wires or do I have to do something a wee bit more fancy?

I forget what the pack looks like, but it should have 4 wires in and 4 out. Just cut the wires on each side and connect them.

Great, now to go hack up my wiring and hope this all works

If you do the wiring correctly then everything will be fine. My friend was using low impedance injectors in his car, but he didn't know it until we tested them yesterday. That explains why the car ran like crap and got 9 mpg.

OK took the 4 wires that went into the resistor pack and wacked em, wired em together.
Now it doesn't start, or rather it may "catch" rev to 3000 rpm or so then die. Hitting the accelerator does nada to reve it. *ponders* It backfires from time to time as well.
Before the inejctor swap the car would not idle, nor could you hit the accelerator very hard/fast or it would choke and die. Previous owner said the dealership thought it was the inejctors so I figured what the heck I had them sitting here. .
TPS is good and adjusted, put in a new gasket for the upper intake when I replaced the inejctors. Any ideas? I'm kinda thinking timing but the car mostly ran before. . .
