Heres the deal, i have an 87 tII, as you can tell....I bought it wrecked, now i can either fix it or buy a n/a for 500 bucks with blown motor and do a motor swap... is the swap worse than fixing the old rx7 and getting it inspected and having the value dropped cuz its salvaged...or is it pretty straight forward?

If the NA is in good shape the swap might be the best option. If it is the one that is "under a tree" then maybe you should reconsider. If the car will be street driven, I'd go with the one which can be registered and insured. A few on my freinds have been through the nightmare of trying to get an "R" titled car back on the road.

No, this isnt the one under a tree, its in perfect condition. What all is involved besides the obvious wiring harness and such?

well since you have 2 complete cars its really easy, you just swap everything

Doesnt matter for liability

its only fraud if you swap vin numbers, that being said its still an na rx7 to your insurance company, so in the even of an accident thats all they will pay you for

Actually, I work for State Farm, so I can tell you what we do... If you are going to do a legal swap, just keep all your invoices and take lots of pics of the new engine out and in the car. You will never get full value of the swap, just depreciated value. Or if you do a legal swap and get it CARB and BAR certified first, you can take it to an automotive appraiser and have an "Agreed Value" policy, which will insure it for the full agreed amount based on sum of parts or appraisal. Or very lastly you can insure it through a specialty company that deals with kit cars, and insure it as one, that way you can also set a replacement value and pay premium based on that figure. :bigthumg:
