so i have 3 days off to do nothing next week before i go to detriot for the Formula SAE competition with Texas A&M. i figure i could use that time and our engine lab to overhaul my stock suspension. so i have some questions for yall:

1. what shock/springs to buy? i'm thinking of going with the rotary performance tokico HP package at $574.

2. what bushings to change out? buy from mazdatrix - front and rear control arms?

3. what about to eliminators? i noticed my car scoots around in the rear in the rain at high speeds and in bump, possibly do to worn toe-inducing bushings

what supplies will i need? the engine lab has a press, and i can rent some spring compressors or the lab might have some. any other suggestions? i'll probably order today or tomorrow so i can have the stuff by next week.

also, how long should this take?

well yuo have the tools. the eliminator bushings are totally worth doing, as are the shocks. the kyb agx shocks are really nice, and inexpensive too.

yeah, i dont know if i really need the adjustable feature, and by buying the suspension package from RP, i save money

the adjustable shocks would be nice for autoX, but will i even use them that much? that tokico package comes with all shocks AND springs, so i'm leaning towards it?

which bushings should i buy? or should i just do the shock/strut change and worry about the bushings after i inspect them?

If you shop around, you should be able to get that same or whatever spring/shock package cheaper. K2RD sells the set of 4 adjustable AGX's for $355.. add on a set of springs for say $200 and you're still under that cost. I love the adjustability. When running full soft on the bumpy PA roads, it rides great... then at the track, I can adjust accordingly.

found it, sweet deal, i'm going with that, you can't beat it. now springs...

these eibach progress rate springs, any good? i'm thinking those, suspension tech, or tokico

eibach - $266 - F 70/185 - R 90/165

susp tech - $208 - F 120 - R 120

tokico - $237 - still looking for spring rates

i found it and ordered all the stuff tonight, here's what i got:

KYB shocks - $355

RB SS brake lines and clutch line - $125

Suspension tech springs - $205

Bushings - $120 or so

Anti-toe bushings - $40

total - around $850, which is good considering 4 years ago on my 86 na i had my mechanic put ONLY tokico HP shocks on my car and for parts and labor it totalled $750

i love saving money...and working on my car. next week will be fun, so long as those bushings aren't too much of a bitch

if they are the blue tociko they should be no more than $350.00 if they are the white ones which are adjustable 5-way they should be no more than $569.00.. NOPI.com sells the blues one for like $313.00 and get the Racing BEat suspension package for lik $430.00 comes with RB springs and Rb front and rear sway bars.....then change the bushings lol. Then get a strut bar from Mazdatrix( the one that connects to the engine.. NICE!!!!

well, they were out of the suspension tech springs, so i had to get Racing Beat, which are like $40 more. Anyone have these? hope they are good, b/c that's what i'm going to be running in about a week.

Next week is the day of definement...to see how handy i really am. yall have any good tips for changing out bushings? i dont want to spend all day just pulling out a peice of plastic. thanks, my buddy with a 5.0 is helping out, so hopefully we can get all this done in about a day or a day and a half.
