well, 8 hours later and my supsension overhaul is almost done! i've changed out the front bushings and went to KYB ajustable shocks and racing beat springs. the car rides great!, never felt crisper. hugs the road, no wait, makes love to the road, LOL.

teh only problem, the backend makes loud banging noises whenever i go over large bumps. i used to think it was a loose spare tire, but nope, that's not it. any ideas? bushings, old driveshaft, u-joints? once i remedy this problem, my car will feel better than new.

Is it the dead body in the hatch? that was my problem....once that

cadaver was out of there, no nasty bump noises and no stench of

rotted corpse...who woulda thought!?

that could be it, it sounds like a loud "thud", rattles the hatch and everything, also feels like there is some "play" in my drivetrain when i let off and apply the throttle. it has also happened when i did a burnout.

the noise, its like a riding in an old SUV, circa 1980, that has struts that are lock up and every little bump shakes the whole back end.

the diff mount sounds like a good possibility, i'll start there. thanks for the help, keep the suggestions comming...

its also not exhaust, although that does rattle, the exhaust ping is higher pitched and softer than this loud drivetrain thud

the diff mount sounds like someone is pounding on the floor with a hammer.

i think i'll jack it up today and inspect the drivetrain, and maybe buy some police dogs and sniff for the corpse if nothing looks shady underneath

anything else i should look at besides diff mounts? ujoints, wheel bearings, cv joints?
