Hey guys,

The other day I was sitting in my car and till then the fact that I have a sunroof completely slipped my mind lmao. I was overwhelmed by everything else in the car lol. Anyways ... When I go to open it, it needs a little help to get it to pop up but after that everything is fine. It slides ok so I'm guessing the tracks are nice and clean and it doesn't seem to have any trouble what-so-ever once it pops up. Is this normal, or is it just a sign that the previous owner didn't use it much either? Is there anything I should do, like maybe lube it up real good or something lol?

Thanks for any help!

LMAO. You just now notice it.

Mine does the same thing also. It needs a little help and some yelling to open up.

Thats typical of most RX-7's. Evryone I know with a sunroof as well as myself has to give it a nudge to pop it open.

mazdaspeed7 05-13-2004 02:06 PM

Yep. Every single one Ive ever seen needs a nudge to open, mine included.

j9fd3s 05-13-2004 02:11 PM

ive seen a few that didnt, but thats because they never really got used

drunkin_idiot 05-13-2004 02:17 PM

OK mine needs more then a nuge, It need a sledge hammer to open it, it vents and that about it, it gets stuck at about an inch of opening, anyone know what I can do to get it open all the way?

rowtareh 05-13-2004 02:22 PM

Sunroofs are so 80's style. Along with the pop up headlights. Now all I need is a vented hood. And I would be so 80's style.

I would say try lubing up the track on the sun roof. That could help.

you know you love the 80's, and sun roofs and flip up head lights are the coolest, the sun roof lets my long 80's crimped hair flow in the wind.

Yeah, mine needs a push up. It goes REALLY slow. Is that normal? If I'm raising or lowering my windows as I try to open/close the sunroof, they all slow down. Draining too much battery life at one time?

If so, that's really gay though! I've already got like, everything you can think of grounded correctly. My turbo timer reads Voltage and it'll go down to like 13.4 or 13.6 at the lowest if I try and do all 3 at a time. If I do 1 window at a time, they go up/down pretty fast.. >_<

LOL yeah I had the same problem ... After pushing it open I was like "Oh crap what did I do?" ... Then I closed it and tried again and same thing, then I just let go and pressed again and realized that it lifts a bit the first time then opens completely the second ... Yup, I felt pretty dumb opening this thing the first time https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png LMAO

Tried that man, Ive never had my sunroof opened up all the way it doesnt want to open. I.e. using sledge hammer, thats why Im asking what the problem is, I know what the problem is, my ******* sunroof is a homosexual!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

i just tried to get my sunroof to open for about an hour, after reading this, no go. When i push the button i hear the motor work but nothing happens. When i try to help it open, it's like pushing against a brick wall. I tried to manually open it, i got it to vent but only the right side was opening. I think the track or something is f'd up on the right? How much is a new sunroof? And I don’t think ive been this piss’d off at my car in awhile, almost forgot what it felt like.
