Strange Starter Problem

i dont think it has anything to do with the starter

incendui -- I don't know much about this but the Haynes manual says that the overrunning clutch in the starter motor could be slipping. (Starter motor will turn, which you say it does and will look normal but the engine won't crank). They say that the starter motor must be replaced.



This is just a wild stab at the problem.

You're probably right, I should just replace the starter. It just bothered me because it was working fine before I took the engine out. The only other thing I can think of is the gear might not be lining up with the flywheel right, but considering theres only one way to put it in, I dont see how it could be wrong. Funny how these things alway come up when you think everythings finished
