i hope you guys in the USA can help me out.

i have a UK 2004 RX8 192 that has suddenly developed a starting problem.

i can hear the starter motor spin, but it does not even attempt to turn the engine over, i removed the starter and replaced it with another from a scrap RX8, the symptons are the same as with origional starter.

after removing the starter again i noticed marks on the ring gear where the starter gear should engage so i guess it is trying to engage but does not fully, any ideas please?

umm first you posted in the 2nd gen section meaning an fc section second idk maybe its not fully engaged into it
