Where can i get some nice looking stainless steel fuel and oil lines from w/ some fittings? Does anyone know of any drop in kits or something like that?

13BAce 11-30-2001 02:09 PM

Summit sells that stuff. A local speed shop may have them too. There aren't any kits available for the fuel system. Mazdatrix and Racing Beat sell SS oil cooler lines. You may want to look at them.

I'm not sure as to what size RB uses for the oil cooler lines, but my friend used -10 AN to make his. Here's a link to the RB hoses: http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=11910 .

It took me awhile to find Stainless hose for my 13B. I removed all the JUNK underneath the manifold (running a Haltech). But the hose size was 5/16" which I ordered from Summit.

I think the hose size is the same at the bank of soleniods.

The AN sizes don't crossover well.

AN-4 1/4"

AN-6 3/8"

AN-8 1/2"

AN-10 5/8"

So if you use AN-6 hose it would be 6/16" or 1/16" too big (LOOSE) you could probably tighten it with a clamp, but why risk fuel leaking all over your motor.

so i should order 5/16" from summit? and that will fit right>?

After you figure out what you need get the stuff from a local Speed Shop that carries the Earl's brand. If you find a shop that handles the roundy round guys thats perfect. Those guys are notorius for not having any money to spend and Earl's is a much more economical version compared to Aeroquip. Good luck.

The rubber lines work pretty well.

Is there a difference between vacuum hoses and fuel hoses?

Roundy Round Guys- Find where the rednecks that run at the local 1/2 mile oval go, they will sell Earls.

Yes. Fuel lines are reinforced to handle high pressure. Whenever you replace your fuel lines make sure to get fuel injection hose.

jmseven7 12-07-2001 11:45 AM

Yes, 13bAce is correct.

You had mentioned that you are short on $$$ Earl's s.s. lines are VERY expensive. It seems that the look is important to you....The rubber "reinforced" fuel Inj. lines will do the job.

If you know the diameter of the hose, then you can just go to summit.

If you want to run SS hoses with AN fittings you need to buy the fittings. They're pretty expensive. I'm using stock style rubber fuel lines on my car, and everything holds up well.

Yes, http://www.summitracing.com sells them. If you want to run SS fuel lines you really need to plan out what you're going to do before you start buying things.

dac 12-08-2001 12:36 PM

Earl's or Aeroquip doesn't have the 5/16" size. Only AN Sizes, which is too big.

Summit does have 5/16" which is some generic brand. The clamps I used are SPECTRE MAGNA-CLAMP which have a hose clamp hidden in them so they look GOOD.

All Stainless can handle the Fuel Pressure from the Mazda pump (less than 40 PSI).

Stainless lasts much longer than standard rubber, but it does wear out as it is rubber lined. When it does there is no indication as there is with rubber as the stainless hides the deteriorating rubber.

Good Luck!

1Revvin7 12-08-2001 07:31 PM

What handles above 40 psi then? Could someone post the website of Spectre? Or where i can buy those clamps.

Just check out http://www.summitracing.com. They give you the pressure ratings of the SS hose they sell.

Rubber hose (for EFI) was $4.65 a foot.

Stainless was less from Summit.

The parts you need are:

SPE-29304 3 feet $10.50

SPE-2906 6 feet $13.95

SPE-29310 10 feet $22.95

Spectre Clamps

SPE-2160 5/16" $7.95 / Pair

(These are Red and Blue Anodized)

(Spectre also makes totally red and blue)

Hope that helps.

Earls has everything you need and is cheap, at least here in FL, land of the Rednecks, you just have to look around.

Could u list all the sizes u used and what each one was for. That would help a lot, i want my car to look just like yours https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png .

RisingSun 12-10-2001 10:08 AM

Sure, let me dig out the invoices and I will e mail you off list. Another trick we used on the racecar before we could afford braided line for the fuel lines was to get some 3/8" High Pressure power steering line with the metal mesh built inside. If you are going for looks braided is the way to go. If you are trying to improve safety and are on a budget the high Pressure PS line is a good option.

RisingSun 12-12-2001 04:32 PM

Heres another angle. Feel free to do all the R&D you want. (ripoff and duplication)

1Revvin7 12-12-2001 10:01 PM

Where did u get those radiator hose? And it looks like u have ss plumbing that goes from those Two big nozzles, that fo are a/c, u don't have a/c, what are those for? Did u also run ss plumbing for the brake fluid?

RisingSun 12-12-2001 10:10 PM

lol I could tell you but then I would have to kill you! Everything is braided. We use the stock metal line but replace the rubber lines with braided, the clutch slave line is braided, pretty much everything is braided. The lines going through the firewall are just oil and water lines lines, it was an easy way to go neatly through the bulkhead. The Radiator Hoses are actually from a marine supply store. (hey, it works!) Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks-

1Revvin7 12-14-2001 11:00 AM

I see u removed the BAC. Does the car have an aftermarket stand alone computer? Im leaning towards no, but could i just remove my BAC? i have stock ecu..

RisingSun 12-14-2001 11:18 AM

Nope, stock ECU and yes, the BAC is removed. Let me know if you have any other questions. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

So u ran 2 SS lines, carrying oil, to the nozzles where the A/C ran. Then u modified it on the other side of the firewall to carry oil where? You said to go easily through the bulkhead. I thought there were only two lines. One that carries oil to the oil cooler from the oil pan ( or something??) and then one that ran from the oil cooler back to the engine. In that scca 7 why would u want to run oil throught the cabin?, to go throught the cluntered bulkhead? Isn't it a straight shot stock? Im confused :dontgetit:

RisingSun 12-14-2001 08:52 PM

I will explain it all off list. Its all SCCA legal. Any lines passing through the car must be AN lines. There is a method to the madness though. I will explain it all as long as you arent planning on racing an ITS RX7 in the Florida Region SCCA in the near future lol

Why not, u don't want any competition, :newlaugh:

1Revvin7 12-24-2001 01:45 PM

Ah ya. I ordered those 5/16 fuel hose clamps, they're too small. So im going to order the 3/8 sizes. And the site says sold seperatley, they're not they are in pairs. BUt yes it will look very nice.

RisingSun 12-24-2001 11:37 PM

Found the invoice after unpacking. Let me know if you still need the info.

Dont mind the competition, in fact we would welcome it.
