here we go again. ok. So my '88 vert overheated a few weeks ago. found out the hose going from the block to the heater core busted. replaced it and all seemed ok, but the clutch hose went so i only got a chance to drive it for maybe 10-20 min. got that fixed, put the air pump and air control valve back on (georgia emissions) and tried to start her back up. it flooded almost instantly (not uncommon for this car, think the injectors are faulty). while trying to get it to start i had an odd white smoke coming from somewhere close to the firewall, but it stopped. after de-flooding for about 20 min and jumping another battery i finally got the car to start. it smoked like crazy for 10 min or so and finally stopped. thinking everything was ok i went for a short spin that abruptly turned into me having an overheating car. when i got home i opened the hood to look where the smoke was coming from. it was coming from the passenger side of the radiator. about that time the radiator overflow popped open and shot coolant about 4'-6' in the air. any ideas? i've been reading the forums and it sounds like the coolant seals, but i'm not sure. first rotary and i'm having hell with her. 176k on the engine.

If the coolant seals are bad, you would see white smoke coming out your exhaust. The most common cause is a bad thermostat. They're cheap (~$10 from the dealership) and easy to replace. If the t-stat is stuck closed, it will overheat.

What are the options if it is the coolant seals? My vert has similar issues.
