Ok my smog belt is all messed up and is cracked, is it ok just to cut it off, and leave it without the belt?? or do i have to take the whole smog pump off and everything??

Leetheslacker 07-23-2003 01:30 AM

smogpump = airpump?

If so your main cat will clog without the airpump.

rotarydrifter 07-23-2003 01:38 AM

yeah air pump, so it would clog up, so if i had no cat i wouldnt have a problem? thanks

FrestyleFC3S 07-23-2003 01:57 AM

correct

no cat = no airpump necessary...and for that matter no ACV and split air pipe

I have a friend that says that if i did that it would cause my 6 ports to not open, is this true?

Is your car a s4 or s5?

JerryLH3 07-23-2003 11:12 AM

If it's an S5, the auxiliary ports and VDI valve will nto open correctly.

Also, I wouldn't trust just the alternator belt to turn the water pump. Get a dual pulley, or buy a new belt for the time being. Honestly, cheap belts are maybe $2-3.

well its an s4so im not sure, i just see at such a hassell to go in and change that belt when its just used for my cat, I have never changed them on my car but it seems i have to take everything off just to change it.

very easy to do....just make sure u have no cats before u do it or ull lose all of ur power - and na dont have much to lose in the first place

if u have abs itll be a tad harder to wiggle out casue thats the direction ull want to push it...unless you have an efan and no clutch fan
