Well, about 2 months or so ago... one of my Headlight Motors went ka-putt! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

So, i did what most other people would... but in a different style (so called Drift Style)

I manually put my headlights in sleepy eye mode. (up about 3 inches or so)

Do you guys think this is 'cool'? or should spend the 50 bucks and find a working motor... so it looks like an Rx-7 again. Granted it doesnt look bad.. i get some compliments... but... i dunno https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

I would just like some opinions

just yank a different motor off of a trashed car

Rob x-7 03-26-2003 04:02 PM

call a local starter/alternator rebuilder and I bet they can rebuild those motors you have for about $30 and they will be rebuilt and not 15 year old

used motors that you are going to pay $50 for.

pengaru 03-26-2003 05:03 PM

i like robs suggestion.

also, make sure it's really the motor and not just the wiring/connector/relay.

wrt the sleepy eyed thing, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/gotrice.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

yeah, better suggestion...I'm used to going to the junkyard with this guy that has a backpack and lower morals...you get the idea

I used to be a midnight auto shopper back in the day.

Call and frequent your local shops, I have always said it is better to

get good local contacts. In these internet crazy days no one uses the good

old phone book or local contacts anymore. I never knew the rebuilder did

window, headlight, sunroof and top motors until I needed one done. Unless its a sealed unit, but those arent.

Same thing for a starter/alternator, its better to get one from them, they usually rebuild the whole thing and offer a good warranty, plus they KNOW what they are doing and wont give you the wrong part, thier prices are lower then the auto parts stores, remember, they do this for a living and supply the other guys with it, so you are knocking out the middle man.

Transmissions, tires, I always like locals, they will beat/match prices and at least if something goes wrong you can go and talk to someone in person instead of mailing and Pay Pal'ing money and parts back and forth

i did that , i had a local shop rebiuld my starter, alternator, and headlight motors for about 150 for all if them and they guarantee the work for 5 years, scumbag junkyard right by my house wanted 75 for each headlight motor, no guantee that they worked

Suds 03-26-2003 11:24 PM

so nobody likes sleepy?

relisys190 03-26-2003 11:30 PM

Geez guys https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I only did it cause my motors 'died' I didnt know what else to do.. And than i though it would look like crap if i just left them all the way up. Like Suds said.. So no one likes Sleepy eyes?

JT-Imports 03-26-2003 11:34 PM

I think the sleepy look it ok, but only if your car is all

done up. If your car is stock, I would get the new or

rebuilt motor. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTT to tell you the truth

if for some reason or some time you want to flash

someone, your going to be SOL, and then you will

have to reset your working one.

Depends on what you like man...... I was going to do

it on my FD, but only because im just not a huge fan

of pop-up lights but I also dont like sleek lights much

either, incase you didnt notice im a little pickey. ANYWAY

I was going to do the sleepy look too but decided to just

get some good fog lamps and leave my pop-ups down.
