If you have done this, please share your feelings. i want to get involved with autox this semester at A&M, and i'm thinking my car will be better in the autox with power steering. but i'm not sure.

i cut the belt so the pump wont seize, and drove it today. man, it was hard, real hard. but i realize that is with everything still connected, so it will be harder than a stock MS unit.

IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS MOD, PLEASE STATE YOUR THOUGHTS.

IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THIS MOD, BUT HAVE IMPORTANT INFO, PLEASE STATE YOUR THOUGHTS.

i have bought two m12x1.25 bolts, and plan on getting the m16 on monday and doing this on tuesday evening maybe.

my 86 na was MS, and i enjoyed it, but i had nothing to compare too, and i've been spoiled by PS. i've forgotten what the MS is like, and i dont want to regret pulling this crap out.

I have done the manual conversion, but I don't autox. I think you should leave it in/fix it...

but will it be as quick in the turns with a PS rack? i do have a stick, remember...

i'm probably going to end up doing the PS --> MS conversion using the same rack, simply b/c it is the cheap way.

personally i wouldnt drop the dough on a true manual rack, but considering ive never driven one with a modded rack vs a manual rack...

well anyway, that thing would be a bitch to install

I've autocrossed with both. The switch to a manual rack isn't that hard.. it helps to remove the front sway bar and disconnect the oil cooler lines. I think finding one is harder. PS rules for tight turns in autox and the manual rules for slalom IMO.

I'm still not sure which I like better, both have advantages and disadvantages.

realize though that with a stick, i will be driving, possible turning with one hand while shifting with the other...

is this possible with a modified PS --> MS rack?
