Should I Paint The Engine?

Hi



I just got an used j-spec engine its a turbo engine and so i put it in my 87 t2 and im going to do a trae down on it to put block off plates on the engine like take everything off of it but im not going to take the block appart or anything but would it hurt the engine if i where to hit the engine with some paint to make it look good would it hurt any of the seals or anything? if not what kinda paint should i use?

As long as you mask off the open areas once the accessories are removed. I would also stick to painting just the irons and not the rotor housings...
