86se7en 10-12-2003 08:29 PM

where did you get it? i have money to burn and i want one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

1987rx7guy 10-12-2003 09:59 PM

ebay but they have a set website www.mazdaracing.com

1987rx7guy 10-19-2003 02:21 AM

My stock shifter bushings were......umm......how do you say....GONE

All that was left was two mettal rings and a lot of GUNK

The whole thing took me like 25-30 minutes to do.(I took my time)

First you remove the nob.

Remove the shifter surround.

Remove the top two rubber peices.

Pull the bottom rubber peice around the stock shifter to get to the bolts.

Remove bolts.

Pull shifter out.

Pull bottom bushing out.(I only had a little metal ring)

I cleaned out all the crap that was in there.

Place MAZDA OEM gasket on the tranny.

Place the spacer on the gasket.

Pour in Oil.

Lube up the shifter.

Insert shifter.

Place top bushing ontop of shifter.

Place inner boot over the shifter.

Screw bolts on.

Replace Rubber parts.

Replace surround.

Re-install shifter nob.

Done

I love it!

I only have to move a tad to switch from the 1-2 to the 3-4 gear range. Shifting from 1-2 is like 2-2.35" And it feels nice and tight.

Nice

1987rx7guy 10-19-2003 03:41 AM

Even better than NICE it is GREAT. I definatly don't mind spending around 177 dollars shipped for a quality peice from these guys. I am loving it and can't wait to doo some nice agressive driving with it.

Yep on their site they are just covering all areas of people that will buy them. On Ebay they said if it was international it would cost 19.xx for shipping.

Trust me the box they shipped it in was VERY NICELY packed. It didn't use peanuts as packing. THey got some of that foam that is used in gun cases and sandwiched everything between two layers.

Nice man, so how do you like the feel of it. I have somewhat of a short shifter..

Previous owner of my car epoxied the stock shift knob in place, time came to replace my shifter bushings i couldnt removed my shift knob.. I ended up ripping the upper part of the shift linkage completly off i was left with a little 2"inch nub with some rubber pieces still glued to it. I shaved the rubber off and attached a momo shift knob to the 2" nub. I have used it for about 2 years and gotten use to it.

-Markus

"People look at my shifter and are like WTF" CHEERS!

1987rx7guy 10-19-2003 10:19 PM

It is very nice. Deffinately shorter throws. It is only around 1" shorter than stock but the throws are more than 3" shorter.

i dont care HOW its packed...it should be the same for whereever ti ships to

im just not supporting a place that will rip me off on shipping....its utter bullshit.....theyre trying to **** people from their own store, and sort of ******* people that shop on ebay

i bought a stock shifter from rx7 resurrections and he charged me 4.25 for shipping

theres NO ******* reason at ALL that a shifter should be shipped out for 20 dollars

and i dont care

try and justify it but i wont pay that even if the shifter is diamond....for 8 dollars i would...but im not wasting 12 dollars for no reason....

FCmaniac 10-20-2003 09:20 AM

A lot of companies make money that way now, especially on ebay.. by ripping people off on shipping. It sucks.

1987rx7guy 10-20-2003 09:48 AM

I use a private shipping company when I sell things. I costs me at least 8 dollars to ship inside of texas. If the product is over 100 dollars it costs 1 dollar per 100 dollars more to insure it. That is 9 dollars already. Plus a package which is usually 1 dollar not to mention the special packaging which would also cost more.

They didn't use USPS which is god damned cheap but has no tracking.

Not to mention USPS often looses crap and you can't get the insurance money even if you fight it.

If your not willing to pay you shouldn't play. That is my motto.

maniac - yeah thats what im saying, they shouldnt be ripping off peopel from there store though, its ******* stupid to rip off the people you are appealing to and trying to make a profit from and its just bad PR

87rxyguy i deal with UPS and Fedex EVERYDAY, i know more than enough about shipping costs and all that....i also know that it costs me 20 dollars to ship a wheel, it costs me 20 dollars to ship a catback, it does NOT however cost 20 dollars to ship a shifter.....

please do not try and educate me about the proper shipping costs of a product......and dont give me that willing to pay shouldnt play **** - thats stupid and you know it...im willing to pay for a product, but im not willing to support a company that is trying to make a few extra bucks by ripping off the customer who they are trying to market an item for

its not a good way to get peopel to know your business, a rotary-biased company tries to sell things, but then tries to rip people off like that, rip off hte people they are making products for..its stupid and they dont deserve my money

maybe if they lower the shipping cost....but i emailed them and spoke to them, and they give me this bullshit sales pitch.... "oh well itll cost the same to ship one item or 20 items, but were having a sale on clutches now so if you need one, and want to buy a clutch, the short shifter, and a pulley set, we can ship it all for free" ---- get the **** out of here

gazellis 10-20-2003 11:03 AM

About the rattling noise,

The Mazdatrix one does rattle. They have a writeup on their website where they tested different manufacturers of short shifters in different RX-7's and found that it was a random event that the rattling occurred. Some rattled, some did not, some rattled in one car where they didn't rattle in another. They chalked it up to a random event.

By the way, mine rattles. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

1Revvin7 10-20-2003 12:49 PM

Does this one rattle?

FrestyleFC3S 10-20-2003 12:59 PM

thank god, now we dont have to hear you complaining about the

shipping cost, lol

I would get one if I knew it wasnt going to rattle.

Who wants to make me a deal, if I get it and it rattles they give me

when I paid for it? Since its a random thing from one car to another?

FrestyleFC3S 10-20-2003 01:17 PM

well i called the guy and was like this is not right...

butt ummm....its not that i was bitching rob its just bullshit

Rob x-7 10-20-2003 01:20 PM

yeah, it was bullshit

1987rx7guy 10-20-2003 07:59 PM

It DOES NOT rattle. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Anyways I didn't try to edumacate you all I was just saying that it usually costs around 8-9 dollars for me to ship something via UPS.

So the EBAY shipping for it was justifiable IMO. But 19.99 is not I know but hey what are you going to do.

I hope you all like them if you pick them up. I love mine.

The shifter doesnt rattle...the fork bushings do. When you change the lever point, you ampilfy the vibrations that the shifter recieves and it rattles. I rebuilt my gearbox and the rattling stopped. I love my mazdaspeed shifter....it was assembled when it came to my door..unlike that one you got.

4 steps.

1. take shiftknob off

2. take off leather boot, and inner boot

3 unscrew the 3 bolts and pull shifter out

4. put MazdaSpeed shifter in

5. reassemble all the other crap.

FrestyleFC3S 10-24-2003 05:35 PM

i got mine in and installed it it feels great too bad i cant drive with it yet

one thing: what are you using for the shifter? i know stock s5 shifter no work....and i dont wanna buy the one from them

1987rx7guy 10-24-2003 11:09 PM

stock S4 knob

On the way will be their polished nob tho. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

FrestyleFC3S 10-24-2003 11:36 PM

i think that knob is one ugly mother....with the rotor etched into it..ew

FCmaniac 10-24-2003 11:42 PM

What's the shipping on that rotor knob?

FrestyleFC3S 10-25-2003 12:20 AM

199000 dollars

Nemesis 10-25-2003 12:35 AM

Get a knob from Team Voodoo. They are nice.
