shifting problems

Can somebody help me?can somebody give me some advice on how to correct my shifting problems.Whenever i'm racing when i go to shift from 1st to 2nd gear it grinds and it doesn't grab right away,assuming that that the transmission its fine because this is my second 88 turbo trans. and its doing the same thing,what can i do to make it better?also have solid motor mounts.(thanks for the help)

2nd gear always seems to be a problem. mine sucks too, but you get used to it and it hasn't really been a problem for me lately. i just put my car away for the winter though...

never had a problem with mine... but my buddies... after we ressurected it from its 10 year sleep a month ago drove it around for a while and it shifted great but grinded second gear really bad... we just bled the slave cylender and now its fine

What RPM is your 1st to 2nd shift at?



I find anything above 6k is going to grind. The problem is the ratio difference between 1st and 2nd.

Most likely the synchros. Common documented problem. Could try changing trans. oil with Redline.

so if your under 6k you shouldn't be able to grind? is there a "sweet spot" in the shift?
