the afc is installed. we started the initial set-up. when we got to the "check sensor voltage" part, it tells us to check the throttle position sensor voltage at closed throttle and at wot. i know that it shoud read approx. .5v at closed throttle and approx. 4.5v at wot. the afc reads 4.5 volts at both wot and at closed throttle. i rechecked connections and made sure that i spliced into the correct wire at the ecu. if the afc manual is right, then i got the right wire. so i backprobed that pin at the ecu and it still read 4.5v. what should we do?

First check the TPS itself. It may be worn out.

Then check the connectors & harness.

OK I rechecked everything yesterday and found the problem. The button on the tps(on the sensor itself) that is supposed to make contact with the *** thing on the throttle assembly. The sensor button doesnt touch it at all, the button was about a quarter inch away fully extended. So I tried to adjust the tps and it was still way off.



So I took the tps off and looked at it, and it has a diamond star logo on the bracket that holds it on the manifold and on the sensor itself. When I took off the uim to install my injectors i checked the hoses and vacum lines and they looked like they were recently changed.



So I'm thinking maybe whoever changed the them may have broke the sensor and instead of getting a new one just threw on a mitsubishi sensor. The car ran extremly rich at idle before so I guess it was always like this since i got it.



I compared the the throttle assembly to pictures on fc3spro and it looks like we put it back on right. So am I right in assuming that the wrong tps sensor is on the car? Or were they made by mitsubishi?

either the tps is bad, or its wired wrong somewhere

Well I figured out the problem, turns out the cruise control cable wasnt on right and it was holding the throttle open
