I've read that one can swap the S5 manifold on to the S4 engine. Any advantages besides a little better flow? What's VDI? Old school VTEC? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif jk... Has anyone done any guides to the swap?

it flows a little more, and its tuned to work at a higher rpm.

vdi is the variable dynamic intake system, its a valve that "shortens" the intake to boost high rpm power over 5200rpms.

intake basically bolts right on, you do need to notch the engine, and or intake for clearance

There was club member from the east that did this and had a how to. I remember he had to block off the EGR valve and notch some little thing on the engine for clearance. Then he had a rpm switch to automatically turn on the vdi at a specific RPM.

I have an S5 intake for sale, pm me if you're interested.

That's awsome, So imagine the variable intake would give better torque down low and power up high. Why are there clearence issues? Aren't the engines essencially the same.

There is a little notch sticking up on the aluminum rotor housing, on the top part. It interferes with with manifold tubes on the S5 intake manifold top portion.

Do I need both the upper and lower parts? or is only the uper part different?

on the s5 engine they got rid of one of the bolts for the top mount starter, and put the intake there.

the lowers have a different stud/bolt pattern. if you pull out the rear most stud, the s5 upper bolts to the s4 lower, and vice versa

on a side note, the 6-port actuation system is the worlds first form of v-tec. v-tec was released post-6-port.

so in theory, without it honda kids would be completely screwed.
