here is a update on this incase anyone digs this up for info, I went over to coupe lights.

You will obviously need a whole coupe light set including center section, you will not need the wiring but if you have it use it.

You will have to trim some metal to fit the coupe lights, what happens is the coupe lights are longer so where the vert has the license plate lights and lock mechanism for the trunk in the center you need to unbolt all that stuff and make 2 cuts to join the old tailight cut out to the license plate light section.

You CANNOT just "drill for a keyhole" like I have read about on the boards for years and years. Its NOT that simple. The lock mechanism is contained behind the stock vert center section, so you simply cannot use the key anymore. What I am doing is using a old style "choke" cable like you would see in a older car or some 1st gens. You can hook the cable up to where the rod connects for the stock vert key mechanism, run that down and out the drain hole in the trunk. You could also run some good nylon string and leave it up under inside the trunk if your worried about someone popping you trunk open.

Remember if they want to go in there they will and probably do alot of damage, the purpose of the emergency trunk release is incase your cabin trunk release fails.

SO anywhere here are the pictures, I will show the vert lights first, then over to the coupe lights trying to use the same photo angles as I did earlier in this thread.

Hope this helps those wanting to put coupe lights in thier verts and debunk the "oh just drill a keyhole in the tailight" bit.

Im going to also note that the difference is minor when going from coupe to vert, you get a cleaner look but I would not take off perfectly good S5 vert lights for coupe lights, more so if you damage your lights and can only find coupe lights. Im just a little crazy and I wanted the back of the car to look different.

start off with my original smoked/restored S4 lights, the housings were completly restored to get rid of the crackled look.

How did you seperate the the S4 tail lights to tint them from the backside?

Probably a heat gun,

Pretty sure the FSM goes over how to remove the lenses.
