new to the forums stuff, i hope im posting in the right section. a little project i started. i picked up this shell off of craigs. its a 91 fc with 114k on the chassis. the bad is that the engine as all parted out. most of it seems to be there,( water pump, fuel pump, radiator, lower and upper intake manifold, rotors, housings, irons....... ill have to take a close look and look at all the part so make sure. the body seams to be in good shape, all tho the paint isn't. it came with a "turbo ll" engine. the pipping, inter cooler and turbo also came with other accessories like some gauges. this is quite a project in deed. the reason why i say that its a "turbo ll" is that im not sure weather it is or not, how can you tell if it is? ill post some pics up of the cleaning that i started today. i plan to do a rebuild and a street port. another thing was (not sure if it was a good idea or not) i fitted the rotors to the eccentric shaft, and there seamed to be a little bit of play. is that normal? enough that you can move the shaft? i was told that the engine had low miles but no way of telling how many it had.

it really is quite a bit of work. but guess i have a good amount of free time on my hands, i also go this rebuild dvd with the car.

today i finally finished cleaning up the rotors. i also started on the irons and housings. one of the irons had some rust on it. around the water jackets and on one of the intake ports and on the face of the iron.

what can i do to clean up this rust?
