Richman 6-speed Trany
i have an 88 GTU and the trany is going out on it, so instead of just replacing it with another stock trany (which i will just blow up again) i wanna upgrade. i want the new trany to be stronger but i also wanted to get a 6-speed trany. my friend suggested a Richman 6-speed. he says they are like 2600-2800 new/rebuilt and we called around and found a few at dismatling yards for 1750 (who knows what condition). does this sound like a fair price for the trany, or even a reasonable swap? if not suggest something else im open to all comments.
i also want to throw in an upgraded clutch, lightened flywheel, carbon fiber driveshaft, and bigger rear end and axles, when i swap in the trany. (open to suggestions for these also)
any info will help thanks

ive looking into the TII drivetrain conversion (trans, driveshaft, diff and axles) 800 from a local dismatler, and yeah i know the TII stuff is strong, but the fact still remains that I want a 6-speed trans. :-)

Doesn't Kennedy (sp) Engineering make a T5 transmission adaptor? I know that Richmond makes T5 trannies so maybe this would be a good idea.
MAZDA ROTARY TO BORG WARNER T-5
KEP # 9000 Adapter kit fits most manual shift '74+ Mazda Rotary bellhousings to the Borg-Warner T-5 transmission (from the Ford Mustang GT '85+). The Mazda flywheel, clutch, starter and throwout bearing are retained. A Ford disc must be used. The T-5 transmission that is normally slanted 18º must now be mounted vertical.
Kit includes adapter plate, bolts, pilot bearing and instructions.
the site is HERE and its listed under "other"
i was looking at the borg warner T-5 trany a while back when my trans first started to go. its only a 5-speed. its the stock trany out of most 5.0 mustangs (turds). although stronger then what i currently have, not worth the money to make it fit. might as well go with the best, or something closer. thanks though
Well if you are looking in wrecking yards dont forget to keep your eyes peeled for a GTUS. Its got the same gear as a TII from Tranny back. Not that you will have much luck finding one. They were rare in the first place but who knows.....
Good luck btw

No it doesnt. It has the n/a transmission with a shorter 5th gear, and it has the n/a differential with a 4.30 ring gear and viscous LSD.
