Recomended Clutches
#1
Curious.,
Is a stock clutch any good? I'm only pushing 170st-185 horse is my guess and this whole thing is in a (gasp!!) 71 Datsun 510 that weighs 2400 pounds. It's never slipped before but i had no 2nd gear synchro so I have never really gotten on it. I inted to drive this thing in the canyons but no dragging.
Will a stock clutch be okay or do i need to drop $400 on a ACT clutch?
Thanks,
C

What tranny are you running? If it is a turbo tranny with a turbo clutch the stockers were on a 200hp car so it should be fine. Even the 89+ NA was pushing 170hp so I bet it would be alright.
p.s. You don't have to gasp about putting a rotary in a 510, that rocks

Hot damn!!!
Thought I might be strung up and beaten.
Some forums are soooo particular about their cars.
Yeah. She really turns heads when I scream by sounding like a pissed off banshee. How can people NOT like the rotary scream?
Thanks, I'll go with the stock clutch so i can put more money in the suspension. ;-)

Yah, it is one of those things where you have to ask yourself if you feel like swaping the clutch when you fry it If you stick with the stocker it might work great, but then again you might fry it out if you beat on it enough. If you don't mind swapping out clutches down the road then by all means put the money elsewhere.
And yes, the forum rocks so if you are cool about asking questions and doing cool engine swaps, we will all help you out
