Rear end
#1
I have an 88 GTU that the rear end needs to be welded but i've herd you can just tie it up with a chain and weld the chain and thats easier and does the job cause its a pain to weld the rear or to even find someone who is willing to do it. what do you guys think i should do? Or do you guys have any suggestions that you have done that works?
and please visist my site www.2rotor.com and sign the guest book and tell me what you think. :bigthumg:

Are you talking about welding the spider gears?
Or welding the diff to the diff mount on the subframe.
I wouldn't weld the diff internals if the car is going to be a street car or track car. IT will make it tail happy. Especially like he said, in the rain is going to be crazy.
IF the car is going to be a drag only vehicle then go ahead. Never hard of using a chain.

If your talking about welding the diff centre making a 'locker'......personal preference rules. I have a welded centre in my streeter, you need to be *aware* in the wet (as you do with an LSD) and it's a bitch in the carpark, but in any other circumstance its great. It will give slow turn-in & give you more understeer in a corner before the apex, but far more drive out.
