HELP

i'm going to tell the whole story later, but short question is this:

what can i use to plug the water thermo sensor switch hole on top of the thermostat housing??? apparently this is from an atx rx7, hence the sensor switch, and i don't know what can plug it!

also, i got a water temp gauge, but none of the screw fitting things fit it...anyone know what size that hole is so i can go look for another one? (the stock wiring is completely broken)

hmm for the hose you can use any hose made for coolant and high temps (id reccommend fuel injection hose, its the strongest) can buy it by the foot at parts stores.

as for filling that hole, let me know if you figure that out cause i still need to do that on my project car.

What i was going to do was get abunch of big oil drain plugs in different sizes and see which one fits, it looks to be maybe a 14-18mm hole, probably with a 1.25 or 1.5 pitch, never got around to accomplishing that tho otherwise id be more helpful.

*IF* the hole is the size that i am thinking of.... i actually filled mine with a spent .357 bullet casing. PERFECT fit...i put a slight coat of JB weld on it and tapped it in.... that was years ago and it never leaked.

I have a 88 vert parts car if you need anything for you car... i live near Wilmington, NC.

I was just thinking...the aftermarket water temp sensor i have wouldn't even fit proplery in the stock hole, because it fits perfectly...as in, it fits in, and nothing could fit behind it to screw it in. i'm going to pull the sunpro temp sensor and just sit and think about how to solve this problem (i consider myself to partially be an engineer https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...)

on a positive note, for the little bit i did run the car (before noticing coolant coming out where the tstat housing meets the pump housing), the coolant didn't just sit there filling up at the rad cap area https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif i kept pouring and it just kept going! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif hooray (i think)

Ok, so here's a pic of the sensor....

Now here's what it looks like installed...

Here's how the sensor moves... (354k XviD)

Here's how much it can move while installed... (746k XviD)

Still looking for ideas on how to get this thing installed... :/

Oh yea, side note...flex pipe for upper radiator hose sux!!! :/ I've gotta order one that's shaped to fit, cause this one kinks.

*bump*

still looking for ideas...a coworker suggested maybe a rubber grommet, of sorts, could be wedged onto the end of the sensor and allow it to be bumped up against the threading to allow it to squeeze in.... or something. i'm confused :(
