Okay, so I'm pretty much decided that I'll buy a late Christmas present for my car. Seeing as it most often sees action at the dragstrip, I want to restrain the engine a bit during launches. Was wondering if anyone had experience with the RB unit, and what other units I could consider. I see that Mazdatrix offers one with their strut bar, but I don't feel I need a strut bar, and I don't see them listing it separately.

How easy is the install? Does it interfere with any stock equipment? Seems like it would be a simple bolt-on to me.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered the brace. I'll post pics once I get it and get it installed. Still love to hear from anyone regarding the performance of this item.

Just more crap in the engin bay in my opinion. Just use stiffer mounts or solid mounts.

I hear ya dude. I'll put new mounts in if (when) I ever pull the engine. Figured this would be a good cheap fix for now, and a little extra restraint can't hurt.

Here's a stupid question: Can I put in new mounts without pulling the engine? I'm sure the mounts I have are ready to quit. How much noise/vibration do solid mounts transmit to the cabin?

you dont have to pull it but you do need to support it with wood blocks on a jack and you can loosen the bolts that hold them onto the motor and manuver them out put you dont have to pull the motor

I have installed the RB torque brace in my rx and it did the trick. Now the motor/tranny has a very tiny amount of travel compared to the stock set up. The car seems less "jerky" on launches. Bolting the brace behind the motor was a little tight.....and getting the strap nut to start under the fenderwell was tricky...just be patient, its worth it.....here is a link to the set up...

mounts are pretty simple, you unbolt em, one at a time, and raise the motor a little
