well after sitting on my ass for 2 weeks with this short throw i finally put it in. its great. tight and the throws are hella short. but when i removed the stock shifter i noticed something rather disturbing. there where NONE of the bushin pieces that i was supposed to remove before installing the new unit. no tiny fragments i mean nothing. I did recall the guy who sold me the car said that all i needed was a plastic bushin for the shifter and it would be good as new but i didnt think the guy removed it completely.. freaken moron. Oh and he also used locktite on the threads of the shift nob so now i have to go find one of those too. damn i hate stupid people

loctite shouldnt be impossible to break free, you should have to like throw away a shift knob, just give it some good elbow grease and twist the bitch off.

unless its not thread and he maybe used a bolt on type did you check that?

Use a belt wrench or a plumbers pipe wrench and some pieces of rubber so the teeth don't chew up the knob.

what shifter did you use . i was thinking of putting the miata ss in its alot cheaper then spending $2-300 on a fc one and it fits

The S4 shift knobs have a chrome locking nut on them. Loosen that first.
