Yea when i start my car in the morning the idle pulses from 900-2000rpm until it is up to temp, does this have anything to do with the tps adjustment, because i just adjusted them perfectly.

Sounds like a vac leak.

Mr.T 07-18-2005 04:40 PM

i believe its your accelereated warm up system. tap the throttle and your idle should stop bouncing

rx7man629 07-18-2005 06:41 PM

na its not the warm up cycle. ive tryed that, it pulses until the temperature gauge is in the middle.

drftk1d 07-18-2005 06:46 PM

i dont think the temp gauge should be at the middle, doesnt it go up to like 3/4? from my experience halfway its running hot

rx7man629 07-18-2005 08:33 PM

the middle of the temp gauge is the correct running temp for all cars, or at least all the cars ive been in, 3/4 of the way is running hot because it is higher than 1/2.

fc3s4utnv 07-18-2005 09:02 PM

ON rx7's half for Fc's is hot. Normal is about 1/4 to 1/3.

rx7man629 07-18-2005 11:02 PM

well my temp gauge reads half way always when the car is warmed up-even when its below freezing out. it never moves from halfway, what can i do to get it to not be halfway?

coldfire 07-19-2005 08:18 AM

S4 cars: normal operating temperature on stock gauge is about 1/4 to 1/3 from "C"

S5 cars: normal operating temperature on stock gauge is about 1/2 from "C"

you have an 89, so 1/2 way is perfectly normal.

i have seen this "surging" during warmup on my car also. i have noticed that an improperly calibrated TPS and vacuum leaks will worsen this effect.

however it is not an indication of any serious problem, so i wouldn't worry about it too much.

yea i kinda figured that, I ran the codes also and there was 17, which is feedback system and it said something about the o2 sesor so i replaced the o2 sensor for 17$, got out my tps tester light's and adjusted them and theres no more pulsing. Car runs a little smoother too, 17$ is nothing, i must of had the original on there.
