I was off yesterday so I took the opportunity to track down some problems.

I was getting a lot of water inside the passenger's side of the cabin so I jerk out the seats with the intention of pulling the carpet out. I noticed the problem was worse than I had thought. The carpet is RED/ORANGE from the rust in some places.

So I get to looking at possible places where water could be coming from. I made some startling revelations. The passenger door has been replaced and did not have the protective plastic cover that seperates the door from interior. And there was broken glass and debris all inside the door blocking the drainage holes. Some one had really tried to ghetto fix this car.

So I went to wally world and bought some tar and plastic and hooked up the passenger door just like the driver's side. Today is raining so we will see if this was the culprit.

I took some pics but will have to wait to post them...

The rust is in the passenger floorboard and a little behind the passenger seat. There is no rust running out from the door oddly enough. Kinda disheartening but I figure for 550 dollars it would be a fun project Like a mistake car or a learner.

I am working on getting a title for it and should have it done in a couple weeks maybe. I have taken it out for a spin or too though. I just get my girlfriend to follow real close so police can't see that the license plate is from a 1993 nissan sentra sr20 I still had some old plate lying around and one day the temptation was too great. If I ever get caught though I will fry! Hang by the neck until DEAD DEAD DEAD

I don't think we can get temporary registration.

This one is a special case circumstance any way. I bought it at a junk yard and the paperwork was not properly dispositioned to begin with. So I have to do all the leg work of tracing the previous owners. There is a little back taxes and stuff like that to deal with. Govt just wants their cash...

It works totally different here. Once I get a car from the wrecking yard, I get the chasse number and get a permit from RTA for the day, if the car is still running, otherwise you take the car home and ask to transfer the car to your name and pay 3% tax on the price you payed for the car and it's yours. If the previous owner did not declare that the vehicle has been sold our wrecked, he can pay a fine of up to $500 AUD Plus tax. Any paper work that was not declared is the responsibility of the previous owner.

Yeah, but over here they'll squeeze every penny they can get out of you lol. Hes prolly gonna have to apply for a title and pay all back taxes, and thats IF he can get a title. Its alot of bullshit to go through.

They tried that **** w/ my old Prelude because it had a salvage title. I just paid the old taxes and on my title I put down that I bought the car for a dollar; only ended up payin like 7 cents in tax. More then one way to beat the system lol.

That bit is the same as us. You ask the guy that your buying the car from to write the price of the car as low as possible. What's this title bit thing you said?

Just a follow up to the leaky door issue:

We got a fair amount of rain here yesterday, maybe about an inch. So I checked my handiwork. There was NO water in the floorboards.

One problem down 1001 to go
