Pressure Sensor?

what exactly does the pressure sensor under the hood do? its the one that says pressure sensor that is on the pass. side by the stut tower

It tells the ECU the how much pressure is in the intake manifold. It appears to be a simple Bosch design, but for some reason it's a lot more expensive on an FC.
