To presilence or not to presilence
#1
i want to get rid of as much cat. converters as possible without raising too much noise. im all stock right now (86 na) and want to go custom. i was wondering what metal to use to make my downpipe out of, if any presilencers work, (dont care much about 5/6 ports) but i wouldnt mind too much keeping the main converter with the pipe for the ports (thats if i can find later a bolt-on high flow cat with the air pipe). 2 1/2" seems alright for now and im keeping the y-pipe + mufflers for now.
whats should i get? 2 1/2" dp with stock main conv. or get rid of all conv. but instead have 2 pipes, dp and one to temporarely replace the conv. for later. ??? will i need a presilencer??
i dont want to achieve max gain but still noticeable gain without going deaf.

I have the Racing beat presilencer.. it sounds pretty good and doesn't restrict the flow any, I love it.
I also have a 2.5 downpipe with hi flow cat already on it. It came off when I did the conversion to turbo. It gives the car a tinny sound for sure...

i made a connector pipe out of 2 and half-got from local muffler shop. cut flanges offa one of the precats and welded them on, cut small air pipe conn. off main cat and welded it on. it worked great, car is slightly loud behind it but u can listen to radio.
