Prep Before Starting An Fc

hey guys,



been looking into buying an 87 N/A. Seller is gonna sell it for 700 bucks, last time she drove it was roughly a year ago when the clutch went out. Its got 170,000 miles on it, which from what i've gathered from here.. is an average life expectancy for an N/A.



I do know that as long as she's had the car, she's taken good care of it (except for the time its sat outside) She has had it for about 3 years now. I'm a tad nervous about the car cuz it does have a lot of miles on it even though its had zero known problems except for the typical electronics controls, solder point crap, and of course the clutch.



My main question is: When i prepare to start the car again, what steps should I take to ensue the rotary will have oil and good fuel ? Generally you drain the gas out and refill it, but what about the oil ? Is there anything I should know before hand that maybe you guys have learned from someone or experience ?

pull the EGI fuse in teh fuse box located in the engine bay (driver side). Go in the car crank it for 10 seconds, do it again for another 10 seconds. Go put the fuse back in and start the car.

why exactly are you telling him to unflood the car?

its not necessarily unflooding it, but the engine will probably have no comperssion and need to be cranked over to build it, if he leaves the fuse in the car will then flood itself

No... what you are doing when you are cranking the motor over without it catching is trying to move oil around to the bearings and such before they spin up to 3000 rpms. It's just like priming a V8 with a drill used to spin the oil pump. unless ofcourse you have a dry sump where all you do is give the sump motor 12 V and have it move oil around.
