Do you guys put the oil in and then fill up the tank? or fill the tank and then oil? I would hate to over oil and sometimes I dont let the tank run empty but I also want to get good mixing

I have a bunch of little Amsoil 8 oz. bottles in a case in the back of my RX7. I have a gallon of that Pettit Protek R in my garage. Before I used to Protek R I bought a case of the Amsoil 8 oz. synthetic premix. I kept about 7 bottles and I refill them with 6 and 7 oz.



When ever I fill up I put 1 bottle in, if I am at 1/4 a tank I put a 6 oz. bottle gas light on 7 oz. bottle. Either way its not a huge deal, putting 2 oz. per gallon would probably not even hurt it but its overkill.



What I am saying is do not sweat it too much. Pay attention to your fill ups, I normally put in from 9 to 11 gallons a fillup so I put 6-7 oz. in so I am mixing a little better than 200:1 probably more like 170:1 its not a huge deal.



I put the oil in first then the gas.

When people at the gas station look at you strange, while your pouring what looks to be motor oil in your gas, just play dumb. Its easier than explaining why you need premix to every dimwit that thinks he knows everything about engines.

I like to explain what I'm doing in a very complex way and also talking as fast as I can. Usually they just pause and say uh... OK. One ricer kid asked me a couple questions about what kind of mods required premixing. I made up a couple things and now I think he's premixing his Honda.

They use 22 oz of pre mix oil for every 5 gallons of fuel in there turbo 600 HP 2 rotor engine.



For a N/A engine they say that 3.5 oz to every 5 gallons is a good mix.. They also say that you should use a high quality synthetic 2-stroke motocycle " oil injection" oil..





BUT I wounder what the best premix oil is..??? Racingbeat uses Royal Purple 2-cycle TCW III synthetic 2-cycle oil.. That protek R sound like good **** to...

Anyway, I agree with your other statement. Too much can be bad as oil burns easily and could cause detonation. It would be better to get some higher quality oil like royal purple for the track than to run more quantity.

Your right to be EXACT it would be a ratio of 1:256 ratio.



My point was that its not rocket science especially for street driving. 1 oz per 2 gallons will put you in the right neighborhood and it is a safe mixture.



When I am Autocrossing or doing a track day I pay more attention to my ratio and run 1 oz per gallon or 1:128 ratio to be exact.

What about adding oil without disconnecting oiling injectors? Like 1/2 oz. per two gals. Would that be a good thing to do or overkill?

I did that for a while, its fine. Ive mixed pretty heavy and not seen any issues. A little blue smoke but nothing damaged.



Its not as critical to get the exact mixture as people think. The OMP injects little to nothing at idle and cruising. Thats bad!

Anything you put in the tank is better than stock.
