What is the advantage to premixing gas?

A very good and informative read:

I run 1 oz. per 2 gallons of gas for street driving and 1 oz per gallon for AX and Road course racing.

I do not have my OMP anymore and personally feel its a waste of space under the hood of the car, you will get much better mixing from premix and better lubrication.

Many in the racing community agree.

Thats interesting reading. How hard is it to remove the omp? Is there a certain type of oil people are running or will any two stroke oil do? Thanks Dan

Removing the OMP itself is not that hard, 3 bolts to remove it, and slap a block off plate in its place.

The oil metering nozzles require a bit more effort, though. You will need to remove the upper (and lower, I can't remember) intake manifolds. You remove the oil squirters, and replace them with bolts. (or whatever method you prefer).

Use TCW3 oil. I buy a gallon from the local boat store, and fill up smaller bottles to take with me.

look at all the grime and **** there from it leaking.

mine looked the same, and thats why it got the boot when i went turbo, and will again on this setup when i tear it all apart to go megasquirt.

i doubt it even pumped anything, just leaked it all out instead.

traderguy 12-26-2007 08:37 PM

I noticed my leaks all over also. Thats why I would like to get rid of it. It looks like the average is about 2oz. per gal. Has anyone noticed any performance or longevity by getting rid of the oiler>

traderguy 12-26-2007 08:38 PM

Whats megasquirt??

miltstheman 12-27-2007 11:11 AM

2oz per gallon is too much, I put in ~11oz per full tank (17 gal) to get 3 gas tank fills per each quart of 2-stroke...

megasquirt is a type of aftermarket ecu

Jims5543 12-27-2007 01:57 PM

For the street 1 oz per 2 gallons gets you about 200:1 mixture.

Racing? 1 oz per gallon, like everything too much is not better it makes problems.
