power steering pt. 2

Ok... so I don't have power steering... (yes I know I feel really dumb...) HOWEVER... I do have a buddy who has the same model year rx7 that I do and he is going to junk it (it blew its seals after he put a greddy stage 2 turbo on a 13b... big supprize... it took time but big supprize) So he is letting me cannibalize it...
So here is the question... can I turn my car from NO power steering to power steering? And if so what do I need beside the obvious two things... a belt and power steering fluid? Like what do I need to take from his car to put on mine? Both are 87's w/ 13b's. His has everything functional except the engine. So Lets have it... Help the noob.

Most people prefer the manual steering, especially in an older car where more things are liable to break. Keep the manual rack, it's not bad! I drove a manual steer car with 245-width tires, and it was only difficult if I tried turning the wheel while sitting still. With skinnier tires, it's even easier.
...but I have no answer for your actual question.

basically its an easy swap, if the engine is out even better.
you need the pump, lines, steering rack, and the ps computer under the dash.
the pump lines and rack actually will come out as one assembly

yea its pretty easy, make sure yours is an actual manual first, someone probably yoinked the P/S and just plugged the rack, if thats the case you might not have to pull the rack.
if you do in fact have a stock manual rack, feel free to PM me and I'll gladly buy it from you

ok... so the whole damn thing comes out??? (wow...) So where is the computer? and more over... I keep hearing about these super angle kits for power steering racks but never for manual ones do they exist????

Well if you really need it and can't fab something to work on the manual rack you could get a PS rack and convert it to full manual. Try to find a 17.4:1(89-90 GTUs or 90 GXL/GTU or?...) rack as they will be just a tad easier. My depowered 88' SE rack @ 15.2:1 feels perfectly fine for me(and I'm not Mr. Brawny). Having a lower ratio makes steering more responsive.
Don't just do loop lines. Get rid of the internal piston which causes extra resistance like the Flyin' Miata Writeup does.
It's an easy mod and really a big improvement IMO.
