I have a 88-tll and am replacing all vac lines/ gaskets/ O rings, to find a vacume leak under the UIM and avoid future leaks.

Problem I am having is with the plastic piece below the injector. My secondary ones came right out (O rings where so rock hard and slopy they where pited!) but the primarys seem locked in some how. they move around (petrified O ring's) but will not rotate or pull out like the secondarys did. I have never seen these parts mentioned on any forum before and there not shown in my Haynes manual. (yes its a crap manual but it's what I have right now)

Is there some trick with this?? Or is there a moutain of crud on them preventing me from pulling them out?



Any info would be great.

 

OK, They do rotate (top only), they seem to be 2 piece unlike the secondary's. I am being real gentile looking around here and making shure NOT to damage the sealing serfice.

From all the fule staining around them I bet they where leaking like a sive.

 

The lower portion of the primary diffusers are keyed, so they will not be able to rotate. Soak them with some PB blaster or other penetrating oil then pull them out with a pick.
